The union and producers Magical Elves reached an agreement over health and pension benefits last night, Deadline has learned. The crew of Fashion Star, on strike since Saturday, will return to work today. There will be no more picketing at Hollywood Center Studios and the producers’ offices. Also, today’s 1:30 PM taping in front of an audience of the NBC reality show will now go ahead as scheduled. The agreement comes after IATSE representatives met with Magical Elves executives Tuesday afternoon to discuss an offer the union put on the table Monday. The union plans to meet with the approximately 70 crew members on the show later this afternoon to brief them on the details of the deal.
The crew of Fashion Star walked off the job Sunday seeking union representation as the NBC show was set to tape in front of an audience. A picket line went up at Hollywood Center until the early afternoon, when the taping was formally cancelled. Fashion Star is in production on its second season; Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie and John Varvatos are the show’s judges, with Louise Roe as the new host this season. She replaces Fashion Star’s creator/executive producer Elle Macpherson. Along with Magical Elves, Ben Silverman’s Electus and 5X5 Media produce Fashion Star.
Nice to see the negotiations didn’t come up a little short!
