Shhh Things that your Current Leadership doesn’t want you to know!

SW is proud to introduce a new feature to better inform the membership of their union rights.

From time to time, we will be posting little tidbits that SAG’s Current “Keep Them in the Dark” leadership doesn’t want you to know!

Unfortunately, President Gilbert and her Restore Respect slate board members, under the direction of CEO Bob Pisano, have decided that they know best. Recently, an elderly board member, and Melissa disciple, went on a tirade during a board meeting ranting against a Minority Report! His argument was based on the thesis that “They” know what is best for “Us!”

Shhh !!

This “They” vs. “Us” mentality has resulted in a “paranoidal” insistence on Complete Confidentiality to the point of threatening disciplinary action against those board members who feel that you, the members, have a right to know what’s going on with your union.

One board member reportedly is now under threat of being charged with “Conduct Unbecoming a Member” for posting on an Internet bulletin board information that those in power were trying to keep from us. It wasn’t Information that they were trying to keep secret from our employers but rather from us! You see to them, it is not so much employers that they see as adversaries, but rather members that disagree with them–and their go-along to get-along agenda.

It’s like the old gent in the board room insists “We, the board, know better than them.”

Well, they may try and keep everything that goes on in the boardroom and committees in the dark, but California Corporation Code 8333 (SAG is a corporation) offers every member a virtual flashlight.

8333 reads “The accounting books and records and minutes of proceedings of the members and the board and committees of the board shall be open to inspection upon the written demand on the corporation of any member at any reasonable time, for a purpose reasonably related to such person’s interests as a member.”

Your Ol’ SAG Watchdog has already requested the minutes of the last plenary, and we will soon be reporting to you which board members chose to go on the record, and which ones didn’t, in the recent “Branch” Board amendment to give themselves a dues “extension.”
