The Ol’ Merger Come On!!!!
I came across this 2009 Watchdog post –and it reminded me why I hated AFTRA Contracts, and realized how AFTRA was gonna SCREW Actors. At the time I was making $759 bucks a day under SAG.

“And now to my money beef. Hey, the Ol’ Dog’s credo is I won’t screw you in any dealings, and therefore, you don’t screw me.
A few months back, I worked on the Hannah Montana show, and I got screwed. Not by Disney, mind you, or the folks that run that show, but by those who are supposed to look out for my, and other AFTRA actors, interest.
I’m talking about AFTRA’s NED Kim Hedgpeth, President Roberta Reardon, the go-along-to-get-along’s on the AFTRA Board–and all the others like Tom Hanks, SAG President Ken Howard and the USAN/UFS/AFTRA First supporters who have empowered AFTRA to screw the rank and file actor by lowering their minimums and giving away their residuals to put money in AFTRA’s coffers.
Okay, how did I come up with the $759 dollar figure. Well to start with, I have done around 400 hundred SAG TV shows and feature
films doing voice-overs as sports announcers, newsmen, Disc Jockeys, etc —-and I have always been paid the day rate and have received
full residuals…ah that is until I worked this AFTRA show. Whereas, I recently worked a SAG cable show Mad Men and received $759 dollars
plus residuals, when I worked my first (and last) AFTRA cable show, I received only $364 dollars and will, most likely, receive no residuals
the first year.”
Here is the page of that contract.
