With a dues increase referendum on the horizon, the Ol’ Dog did a little sniffing around and dug up SAG’s 2005 LM-2
… and contrary to some of the claims, the 2005 financial report demonstrates that SAG did very well from 5/1/2004 to 4/30/2005.
SAG’s net assets up from $10,227,494 dollars in 2004 to $11,890,018 dollars in 2005. What happened in 2006?
The 2006 LM-2 will be filed with the Department of Labor in February, and the news gets even better for SAG members. Total net assets increased by around $6 million dollars to over $17,000,000 dollars.
Another item of interest is that, as of 2005, SAG had 31 staff members making over a hundred grand a year, up from eight in 2001 when CEO Bob Pisano took over.
For the year under discussion, here’s a rundown of some of the salaries made by senior staff:
- Peter Frank: (Dep. Natl. Exc. Dir.) $203,941 dollars
- Pamm Fair: (Dep. Natl. Exc. Dir.) $ 169, 627 dollars
- Duncan Crabtree-Ireland: (Dep. General Counsel) $104,888 dollars
All of the above have had subsequent salary bumps, and have reportedly been given Golden Parachutes which will give them a combined pay-off of potentially 700 grand should all three get the axe in 2007.
Other notable salaries:
- J.T. McGuire: (Senior Advisor) $236,352 Dollars
- Seth Oster:(Dep. Natl. Exc. Dir.) $180,672 Dollars
- Sallie Weaver: (Dep. Natl. Exc. Dir.) $208,111 Dollars
- David White: (General Counsel) $188,249 Dollars
(Mr. White, Oster and Ms. Weaver have subsequently left SAG for grimmer, ah, greener pastures.)
The most intriguing stat spotlights the amount in the unclaimed residuals fund, which includes monies owed missing or deceased members. According to the report, the amount of money in that fund increased from $18,694,000 dollars in 2004 to $55,704,000 dollars in 2005.
Hmmmm, I’ve heard a lot of actors say, “Boy I really died out there!” Apparently, last year they did!
Or could there be another reason. Hmmmm…again.
