* The names of the new negotiating TaskForce !! * name added. *alert Read on to find out the names of those board members that have fired SAG NED Doug Allen, by written assent, and have affectively turned SAG over to our employers !!

.: .
Date: Tuesday 1/27/2009

* Hollywood members who do 75 % of the work on the TV/Theatrical contract should know that The USAN/UFS Mandated Taskforce is disproportionably constructed giving New York and the branches a 50% say in the contract negotiations.

Furthermore there are five Hollywood members and five NY & Branch members for a total of 10. They are Hollywood; Alan Rosenberg, Anne-Marie Johnson, Clancy Brown, Morgan Fairchild, Ned Vaughn and New York and the branches ; Sam Freed, Mike Hodge, Matt Servitto, RBD; Mike Pniewski and Nancy Duerr.

Thus New York and the branches along with their Hollywood cohorts Ned Vaughn and Morgan Fairchild will team up giving them control of the Task Force 7 to 3.

---

* A name was inadvertently left off the list below. Board Member Steve Fried of Arizona. (TV/Theatrical IMDb credits none)

Have no doubt about it, this union is now being run by a group of USAN Board Members from NY and the branches, along with 6 sycophant Hollywood board members: 5 UFS and one independent. They have effectively turned our union over to former SAG NED, and current Head of the Motion Pictures Association of America Bob Pisano, protégé David White.

Now, here is a message from this duplicitous group, who go as far, as to basically lie to the members in their message. I will add a few comments.
----
A Message to Members from the SAG National Board Majority

Today we took an important and necessary action to address the leadership crisis at Screen Actors Guild.

Representatives from SAG’s National Board majority delivered a “written assent” document to SAG headquarters which authorized the following: Doug Allen is immediately replaced as National Executive Director by former SAG General Counsel David White, who will serve as interim NED; Guild Senior Advisor John T. McGuire is appointed as Chief Negotiator of all SAG contracts; the TV/Theatrical Contract Negotiating Committee is replaced by a Taskforce which will complete negotiations on behalf of the Board of Directors.

WOOF ! David White is SAG’s former General Counsel who was hired by former SAG NED, and current Head of the MPAA-who acts primarily on behalf of AMPTP producers-- Bob Pisano. Pisano hired him out of his old law firm O'Melveny & Myers. Now if you think Pisano did not have any say in the USAN/UFS/AMPTP First board members hiring of his protégé, and head hit-man, while he was SAG’s legal counsel, then I can get Steven Spielberg’s financial advisor to let you in on some neato investments, real cheap.

USAN/UFS Board Majority: In a meeting two weeks ago, a majority of the board sought to make the crucial changes now contained in the written assent, but were derailed by President Alan Rosenberg and a minority of board members through endless parliamentary games and improper behavior. By filibustering for over 28 straight hours, they prevented the Board from ever taking a vote on the majority’s proposal.

WOOF ! And now this group that for the most part does not even work the TV/Theatrical contract will prevent the membership from having a vote on a strike authorization--and will sellout SAG’s membership by taking the AMPTP deal that will destroy the future of the Screen Actors Guild.

USAN/UFS Board Majority: This unprecedented level of obstruction has paralyzed the Guild.

WOOF ! These are the board members who went public parroting producer propaganda and enlisted high profile actor/producers to join them. And now they have the audacity to accuse others of obstruction and paralyzing the guild.

USAN/UFS Board Majority: Written assent is included in SAG’s constitution to allow a majority of the Board to take action outside the boardroom if necessary. While extraordinary circumstances may require the use of written assent, we do not believe it is a desirable way to conduct Guild business. In this case, the unrelenting obstruction by a minority of board members has left us no alternative.

WOOF ! Now read this next paragraph and it will illustrate how duplicitous this group is.

USAN/UFS Board Majority: This action has the support of all but one of the National Board members from SAG’S New York and Regional Branch Divisions, and all in the Hollywood Division except those affiliated with the group Membership First. The signed written assent documents were delivered today to SAG headquarters in Los Angeles.

WOOF ! The highlighted part is what can be described as a NON LIE, LIE. Although it is technically true, it is presented in such a disingenuous way as to give a false impression that ALL of the Hollywood board with the exception of a small group supported their action when. In fact, just the opposite is true. All in the Hollywood National Board Division of 33 members disagreed with it except for 6 non-Membership First members. That’s right 27 of the Divisions 33 members 82 percent disagreed with action while only 6 Hollywood division members supported it. And this is the group will be in charge of the informtion the membership recieves.

USAN/UFS Board Majority: Upon implementation of the approved motion, Interim National Executive Director David White will assume control of all Guild operations and will coordinate with Chief Negotiator John McGuire to contact the AMPTP to undertake resolution of TV/Theatrical Contract negotiations, which ground to a halt nearly seven months ago. The leaner TV/Theatrical Taskforce will work alongside Mr. McGuire as the "eyes and ears of the board," providing input and support as contract negotiations are concluded.

WOOF ! David White was Chief Counsel, who with the urging of these same USAN board members, and then NED Pisano, headed a witch hunt against makeup man Vulich and lost; SAG eventually dropped the suit that ended up costing the guild over $400,000 of SAG members dues money. The leaner Taskforce controlled by New York which will be made up of 5 Hollywood Members and 5 NY and branch members. That’s right, New York and the branches will not only have a 50/50 say in a contract in which its members only work 25 percent while Hollywood works 75 percent, but it will have a 7 to 3 edge with two of its USAN stooges on the Hollywood end of the task force.

USAN/UFS Board Majority: Beyond the stalled TV/Theatrical negotiations, there is much work to be done and SAG members can rest assured that we have secured an exemplary leader in David White. A Rhodes Scholar, Mr. White has extensive industry experience and was SAG's General Counsel from 2002 to 2006. He knows the Guild and its contracts, and has the respect of our staff and the entertainment community. Our Chief Negotiator, John McGuire, is a 40-year SAG staff veteran who has negotiated over 30 contracts and is held in enormous esteem throughout the industry and the labor movement. We have complete confidence in his ability to deliver the best possible contracts for our members.

WOOF ! Hmmm…no mention there of Pisano. As for John McGuire, who has been involved with the current negotiations, it is obvious to everyone but this group of AMPTP sycophants that McGuire will get nothing but token gains, if that, without a strike authorization.

USAN/UFS Board Majority: These much needed changes will allow SAG to chart a new course. We will work to secure a TV/Theatrical Contract that can be sent to members with a positive recommendation, and to effectively resolve all our outstanding contracts, including the Commercials Contract. We will also work to rebuild vital relationships in the entertainment and labor communities, and to reestablish Screen Actors Guild as a respected and powerful institution, protecting and defending performers nationwide.

WOOF ! Talk about “Restore Respect” Redux! Translation: We will once again get some of the worst contracts in guild history while these board members kiss our employers asses in order to forward their careers.

---
USAN/UFS Board Majority: In its entirety, the written assent accomplishes the following:

-- Removes Doug Allen as National Executive Director;

-- Engages David White as interim National Executive Director;

-- Names John McGuire as Chief Negotiator for all contracts, including the TV/Theatrical Contract currently in negotiation;

-- Replaces the TV/Theatrical Negotiating Committee with a Taskforce, which will represent the Board of Directors;

-- Directs that only interim NED David White, John McGuire, or their designee may communicate on behalf of Screen Actors Guild to other organizations, the general public, or the press;

-- Retains the law firm of Schwartz, Steinsapir, Dohrmann & Sommers LLP to advise the National Board and represent the Guild in negotiation of the terms of a written contract with David White;

-- In response to voting irregularities at the last Board meeting, instructs SAG staff to develop and implement a fraud-proof security system to regulate the use of the voting remotes used by Board members to cast their votes.

*In the interest of compliance with the AFTRA-SAG non-disparagement agreement under the AFL-CIO, Members of SAG’s National Board majority who are also AFTRA officers or board members wish to officially record themselves as abstaining from this statement.

WOOF ! Ah, since they didn’t have the guts to put their names out to the membership, the Ol’ Dog will do it for them.

---

The following list of names are those who fired SAG’s NED for standing up to the AMPTP, eliminated the negotiating team--which SAG Hollywood controlled. They are replacing it with a Taskforce in which New York & the branches board members have control--even though many on the board have little if no IMDb TV/Theatrical credits

These board members who, with a few exceptions, only minimally work the TV/Theatrical contract, will deny actors who do--the right to vote on a strike authorization.

Yes, the following board members took it upon themselves to fire NED Doug Allen because they were unhappy with his negotiating. And then they decimated the proportionally correct SAG’s negotiating team, and replaced it with a so-called Task Force. This new Taskforce is proportionally skewed to favor New York and the Branches over Hollywood. This even though Hollywood is where 75 percent of the work on the TV/Theatrical contract is done. Since they have done all of this in the name of the current negotiations, I felt it is only fair that we check their TV/Theatrical credits. Yes, who are these board members who presume to take away the entire memberships right to make their voices heard in a strike referendum? How much stake do THEY have in a contract they will deny others to make an important vote on?

Well, I think you have a right to know, so I have posted the number of their TV/Theatrical IMDb credits next to their names.

Since, the only credits pertinent to their precipitous action are the TV/Theatrical credits, those are the only ones I counted.

Unless stipulated, they are New York or Branch Board Directors. The names are listed in alphabetical order. (IMDb credits are not Infallible and can be confusing, but I have tried to be as fair, and accurate as possible.)

So, there you go; out of 40 board members who fired our chief negotiator and NED Doug Allen, disbanded SAG’s negotiators, gave control of their new Task Force to New York, and hired David White, MPAA’s Pisano’s former protégé to be SAG’s interim NED, only 6 Hollywood, non-Membership First Board members supported this action. Our union has just been hi-jacked by New York and the branches with only a FIFTEEN PERCENT backing from our Hollywood elected representatives.

If you don’t believe our union will be run by our employers through the Pisano connection, then take a big bite of that turnip from the truck you just fell off of. Oh, and get used to it, because it is beginning to look like it might be the main staple of your non-union, residual challenged guild members.

A.L. Miller SW editor & Chief WOOF !

I don’t know about you, but, but the Ol’ Dog needs a drink. It’s post time, ah, no, come to think about it with the above sellouts now running things, it is compost time. Get used to it. I got a feeling there is going to be a lot more of it. *toast

*Look, the above list and credits, is not to imply that those above do not work commercials, cartoons or other segments of SAG’s contracts, but their decisions were not made on behalf of those contracts, but rather on a contract, a good portion of them really have little, if any, stake in.

I think every SAG member has a right to vote on the all of our contracts, but it is an entirely different thing when they want to take away the vote of others as they have just done.
