* Like the Energizer Bunny, The UFS’ Ned Vaughn and Amy Brenneman, are STILL GOING with their qualified voting quest. Also, The Watchdog’s endorsements for the current election.

.: .
Date: Wednesday 8/27/2008

The Ol’ Dog was watching “The Best Man,” a political movie about the backroom doings in a presidential convention. Lee Tracy turns in a terrific performance as a crusty old president. In an aside about an opportunistic candidate, he says, “I don’t mind that he’s a bastard, it just that he’s a dumb bastard.”

Although, the Ol’ Dog does mind bastards, he especially dislikes those that think our members are dumb bastards.

Case in mind this currently on the Home Page of the Working Actors Voice Website:

Huh, on one hand they say, but, but we ain’t gonna take your vote away, while on the other hand they are still soliciting members to sign a petition that if implemented would do just that.

But, if we believe that these UFS candidates will not do their damdest to take away the vote of most of our members, we are indeed dumb bastards. (By the way, when you're marking your ballot, you can tell who these Qualifed Voting andidates are by checking the accompanying voters guide. You'll that they have the UFS link at the bottom of their statement.)

The good news is that there is a group that has, and will continue to support our great guild’s tradition of union democracy, and that’s Membership First.

And that is one of the reasons, I am proud to endorse their slate, along with a few independent candidates that will also fight for union democracy.
