Dear Screen Actors Guild Member,
It has come to my attention that a communication using an official SAG email list - the Regional Branch Division List Serve (rbdteam@saglist.org) - was recently used to distribute a statement supporting a group of candidates for the current election. This email List Serve is comprised of 58 members and 3 SAG staff persons and was established to facilitate communications between elected leaders in the Regional Branch Division for the purpose of conducting union business.
Federal law and Guild election rules prohibit the use of Guild resources, including email lists of this type, to support, endorse or recommend any candidate for any SAG position. You should be assured that any communication using SAG email lists does not reflect an endorsement of any candidate, or slate of candidates, by the Regional Branch Division, any other SAG Division or the Guild itself. Furthermore, you should be assured that the Guild has reminded everyone who participates on these email lists that such email lists may not be utilized to support candidates for any SAG election and that the List Serves will be suspended until after the election if any further prohibited communication is discovered.
If you have any questions or concerns, please direct them to Michelle Bennett, National Director of Governance, at 323-549-6094 or mbennett@sag.org.
Doug Allen
National Executive Director
