Proof of a Dramatic Increase in AFTRA “Poached” Productions!
.: . Date: Sunday 6/29/2008
Remember the good old days when there were very few AFTRA dramatic scripted shows, besides a few sitcoms, that actors were forced to work under—-and most of your work went toward your SAG pension and health plans.
Well, since AFTRA started its assault on SAG contracts by undercutting actors minimums and giving away their residuals, those days are over.
Many actors miss out on qualifying in either union; since whatever they make on those few AFTRA shows, with their residual giveaways, never is enough to qualify under AFTRA. And it subtracts from what would have been enough to qualify under SAG.
If you want a good gauge of how AFTRA is dramatically poaching there way into your pocketbooks, check out this message from Central Casting.
Unless, something dramatic is done soon, those dramatic increases ballyhooed by Central, will be central to actors careers being dramatically dominated by a union, where they encourage Disc Jockeys, newscasters, and other broadcaster, who have never worked an acting job in their lives, to vote on actors contracts, as they are doing in this Exhibit A "Giveaway Referendum. Check following link for proof that this is happening.
And not only will actors no longer control their destinies in their ability to make a living, but once, AFTRA takes over, they will be subjugated to the same type of despotic behavior going on right now, where members are told half truths, are not allowed to see the contracts they work, before they work them, or even verify the results of referendums in which they vote.
This is the reason the Ol' Dog is urging all actors to vote NO on the Exhibit A "Giveaway" Contract. (There is still time to get those ballots in by July 8th.)

Remember a NO vote, is a yes vote for your future!!
I have been told that the reason for Central Casting urgency in this matter is that, although there has been a dramatic increase in AFTRA Productions, there is a dramatic number of our SAG Background Actors, who refuse to do these jobs because of inferior pay and working conditions.
A big thumbs up to those background actors standing firm!
