The motion to establish qualified voting for the membership along with a motion for qualified board service was sent to the GGRC for further review.

Well, there is a very important SAG plenary going on as the Old Dog writes this commentary. There are a lot of vital issues being debated included Qualified Voting.
I have stated my objection to this issue. For one thing according to recent LM2 Filings there are 120 thousand members. And depending on which criteria those favoring qualified voting finally come up with-- it will disenfranchise around 85 percent of our members when it comes to the collective bargaining agreements. Agreements that we all are bound to abide by.
I don’t know about you, but to me, it ain’t a real good move to tell around 102,000 members that they can’t vote on the contracts that they will be bound by.
I have talked to several friends who would lose their vote under qualified voting, and they have told me in no uncertain terms that if SAG takes away their right to vote, they will go fi-core.
Hey, why not? The main privilge you lose in going fi-core is your right to vote. And, gee, George Clooney did it with the WGA.
Hey, if you treat members like second class members, they will start to act like second class members, or in this case dues paying non-members.
Anyway, since this will most likely be on the table at the plenary, I thought you might want to know the names of the current SAG board members that have signed the Qualified Voting petition. The petition that would take away most of our members right to vote on our collective bargaining agreements.
Of The New York Board 19 out of the 23 board members have signed the Qualified Voting Petition.
NEW YORK BOARD MEMBERS WHO HAVE SIGNED QUALIFIED VOTING PETITION:
BRANCH BOARD MEMBERS WHO HAVE SIGNED QUALIFIED VOTING PETITION!
HOLLYWOOD BOARD MEMBER WHO SIGNED THE QUALIFIED VOTING PETITION.
You’ll notice that the only board members to sign the petition are USAN board members, or in the case of Morgan Fairchild, a former Restore Respect board member and USAN supporter.
So, there you go, if you are one of those of the overwhelming majority who might lose your right to vote because of those listed, and seen, above, you might want to remember them in the upcoming election should they decide to run.
Any vote on taking away members vote should be on the record, so after the plenary, perhaps, the Ol’ Dog will have more names for your “Remember” list for the upcoming SAG election.
