* According to UFS Board Member SAG Contract Passes !!*051 The funniest quote of the day comes from The Baghead Blog, home of the “Drizzlers,” SAG Watch (On the Rhine.) !! Why is AFTRA keeping their new shows secret from their members ??

Date: Monday 6/8/2009

* According to Ned Vaughn AMPTP sycophant contract passes by 77 percent! More later, the Ol' Dog is watching the Laker Game !!

* The funniest quote of the day comes from The Baghead Blog, home of the “Drizzlers,” SAG Watch (On the Rhine.)

According to the Bagheads, here’s how the vote count process works.

The ballots for the TV-Theatrical contract ratification referendum are due in Everett, Washington at 5 PM. The process works like this: the ballots are picked up at the post office, fed into an electronic scanner, and within a matter of a few minutes the totals are available. They’ll be certified and sent to 5757 immediately.
We expect the results to be announced some time around 7 PM Pacific, 10 PM Eastern.

Brilliant! Say, 30,000 ballots, more or less, are picked up at the post office. They are driven to Integrity Voting, unpacked, and then thousands upon thousand of ballots are opened, vetted, and then they're run through an (One) electronic scanner and certified--and all of this is done in a matter of minutes.

:D :D :D :D

No wonder these AFTRA/AMPTP First operatives chose to hide behind anonymity, they are an embarrassment. But, then, occasionally they are good for a laugh!

(Duh, it is common knowledge at SAG that NED’s at SAG get a running vote count on referendums--including current NED White.)

---

There was a story on AP today claiming that

“Of the 30 TV shows that were picked up by broadcast networks this spring, like ABC’s “Modern Family” or Fox’s “Brothers,” 25 were AFTRA deals and just five were SAG, a reversal of last season when 19 were SAG and three were AFTRA.”

Now there is either one or two problems with the AP numbers. One is that the two shows listed are not AFTRA Shows or Two that for some reason AFTRA is keeping the fact that these are AFTRA shows from their own membership.

On the AFTRA website both a list of Los Angeles productions and New York productions are listed on their Showsheet Listings. The problem is neither “Modern Family” or “Brothers,” the two shows listed as AFTRA shows in the quote above are listed on either the LA or NY AFTRA show sheets. So what gives?

When it's AFTRA with its current Star Chamber Leadership who the hell knows. We knew they wouldn’t show members election results, or contracts but now we learn they don’t even want members to know which shows are AFTRA. Perhaps these producers only want to deal with SAG members--and don’t want a bunch of AFTRA members calling their offices and bugging them.

Now I don’t know what 25 AFTRA shows AP was referring to other than reality, game, and other non-dramatic shows. I did a little checking and most of the dramatic/sitcom shows listed on new network schedules were not listed on the AFTRA Showsheets.

I checked the Fox schedule for next week and the only dramatic show listed in AFTRA’s Showsheet was a show titled "Mental"-and that ain’t gonna do you much good since it is being shot in South America.

On the new announced Fox schedule the show “Fringe” is not listed on the AFTRA Showsheets. If indeed it is one of those 25 out of 30 AFTRA shows being picked up, perhaps, AFTRA don’t list it because it is being shot in Vancouver, Canada.

Other dramatic/sitcom shows on Fox’s schedule include “Lie To Me,” and “Glee” are filmed in LA, if they are two of those AFTRA shows, why aren’t they listed in the LA Show Sheets? And of scheduled shows like ABC’s “Castle,” “The Forgotten,” “Hank,” “The Middle,” “Cougar Town.” “Eastwick,” and “Flash Forward,;” none of them are listed as AFTRA shows. Certainly, if indeed, SAG only had 5 shows picked up, some of these shows must be AFTRA. But they ain’t in AFTRA’s Showsheets.

At NBC, only 2 dramatic/Sitcom shows are listed as AFTRA shows “Mercy” and “Parks and Recreations.” NBC shows such as “Chuck,” “Day One,” “100 Questions” questions “Community,” and “Trauma” are not listed on the Showsheets. (I have been told that “Trauma” is an AFTRA show being shot in San Francisco.)

So why all the secrecy at AFTRA? I guess old habits are hard to break.

Results should be announced this evening on the TV/Theatrical referendum. As soon as I hear anything, I’ll put it up.
